fished his first tournament in 1970, and has continued fishing tournaments until retiring
from tournament fishing in 2005, in order to guide full time. He retired from his job at
American Electric Power in 2001 to fish full time. In 2004 he purchased a second home
in Clewiston, Florida, on the south west corner of Lake Okeechobee. He now plans on
guiding on Lake Okeechobee from November through April. He will continue to guide
on Smith Lake Virginia May through October.
Capt. Kinney wants his customers to catch the fish, not watch him catch them. He will
do everything within his power to assure that you catch fish. He has the best fishing
equipment available for you to fish with and fishes from a 519 VX Ranger bass boat,
which is fully equipped to insure a safe day on the water. Capt. Kinney is Coast Guard
licensed and is fully insured. Capt. Kinney does not fish on trips unless customer
wishes him to. He maintains all of his equipment to the highest standards, assuring a
trouble free trip. If you are staying at a local motel he will pick you up there.
Having fished tournaments for over 30 years he is knowledgeable of all fishing
techniques. Capt. Kinney has all of the latest lures that are working at the location of
your trip. No need for you to buy anything except live bait used in Florida.
